Eliminating carbs may lead to weight loss and lower blood sugar levels, but going completely carb-free comes with its own set of risks:

  1. Increased Risk of Low Blood Sugar – A very low-carb intake can cause low blood sugar, which may be risky for those with high blood sugar issues.

  2. Higher Fat Intake & Heart Health Risks – Low-carb diets often mean higher fat consumption. If the wrong types of fats are chosen, this can negatively affect blood lipid levels, cardiovascular health, and increase visceral fat.

  3. Excessive Protein Intake & Organ Strain – Overconsumption of protein can impact gut health, kidney function, and liver health.

  4. Gut Microbiome Imbalance – Completely avoiding carbs may disrupt gut microbiota balance.

Instead of eliminating all carbohydrates, it's better to focus on high-quality carbs such as whole grains, fibre-rich starchy vegetables, fruits, legumes, and dairy products.
